• I’m doing something wrong.
• The Law of Attraction doesn’t work.
• This is never going to work because I can’t stay “positive.” 
• I’m not doing “it” perfectly so, I need to “start over.”

These are all distortions and myths and it is these kinds of misunderstandings that really stop us form going beyond where we’ve gone before in our lives.

….So… here’s what happened.  If you’ve been keeping up with past blog posts and read “My Story,” you know that WHILE I’m experiencing all kinds of success in terms of life purpose and career, my personal life has been “challenging” to say the least.  (Between you, me and the entire cyber-Universe, if I could maintain a sense of professionalism and credibility WHILE describing the absurdity, pain and frustration that only a lusciously adequate stream of extreme profanity can do, I would…. But alas, only those in my inner-circle get a slice of “that” Sonia.  Suffice to say, I’m human like the rest of us.)

Anyway, the other day, I got a message from the mammogram folks.  I had just had my annual mammogram and they called me in to schedule “additional views”.  I knew this was a possibility because they told me sometimes they call people in if they can’t get a good read…. nothing to worry about.  Despite this calm pre-emptive reassurance from the technician, this voicemail sent me over the edge.

I got in my car on my way to go line dancing and I LOST IT.  I screamed at God.  I screamed at the Universe.  I screamed and screamed and gave myself full-on permission to “honor my emotions” (a very important concept necessary to prevent self-sabotage in the manifestation process… (Check out my book, “The Attraction Distraction,” if you need more on that.) 

I DOVE into self-pity, victim, not fair energy and had a hissy fit. 

I “tapped” on myself (I’m referring to EFT, a form of energy healing) the whole time I released.  I let it RIP. 

“Not fair!  Enough!  When is this going to be OVER??!!  Give me a (#@!*) break!  What more do you want from me!?  What enlightenment to you want me to reach!  I’m doing everything right!  Mom’s cancer! 4 years of care-giving!  Lawyers!  Divorce!  The dog died! And now you’re scaring me with the mammogram.  How much more (#@!^) can life pile on me!  COME ON!!!!

 

By the time I arrived at my destination, the stillness that comes with healthy emotional release came, followed by divine guidance.  (I’m telling you, if this concept is new to you, run a search in this blog on “Harnessing the Power of Your Emotions”)

This is what I heard:

“Sonia, this IS your life.  None of us gets to know how much time we have on earth.  You keep falling into “living for the future.”  When your mom was sick, you’d think, “When she passes, THEN I’ll get to live my life.”  When the home/business life/legal dispute earthquake erupted you thought, “When this is settled and we move, THEN I can live my life.”  When your marriage ended you began thinking, “When this divorce is over and I can start over, THEN I can live my life.”  Sonia, this IS your life.  Your life is now.

 

Then that familiar quote popped into my mind. 

“Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass.  It is about learning to dance in the rain.”  Sonia, your spiritual opportunity and the solution to ALL your problems is to remember that God is Good.  And God is NOW.  Even in the midst of a life you’re not happy with.  Be here now.  Seek out the joy that is HERE.  NOW is all there is.”

I’m sure some will read this and think…. oooh, how profound.  And others will read this and say, “Yeah, how many more platitudes can you spew off?  I’ve heard it all before.  “

But that’s the thing.  Just because we know something intellectually, and just because we “thought” we got that concept before and were done, it doesn’t mean we don’t have the opportunity to remember it, go deeper with it, and GROCK it at a whole new level.

The Moral of the Story

My soul ASKED to know that God is my Source.  When I asked, it was given. 

It was given by REVEALING to me the places my consciousness still believes that any ELSE is my source – people, places or conditions in my external world.  Quite simply, yet quite profoundly:

God/Source is all there is. 

God/Source is HERE NOW. 

NOW is all there is. 

The more we can live in the NOW, acknowledge and give thanks for the WELL-BEING that is here now, the more that:

a) we are able to experience peace and joy, and

b) we manifest even MORE well-being, peace, joy, and abundance…. BECAUSE THAT is where our attention is and THAT is what is blessed and multiplied in our lives.

Okay then!  Was that messy enough for you?  (I have a whole ‘nother level of epiphany for you, too, but I’ll save that for the next post.)

This is a very personal message from me to you, which I truly hope
you’ll take the time to read. It has turned out to be a bit long. I
hope you’ll print it out and read it over a cup of coffee or tea.
It seems that I’ve written this type of letter to you several times
in the past year and a half. The kind of letter that goes something
like… “Sorry I’ve been absent for a while, this is what’s been
happening, and… I’m back!” Well, for someone like me who has
identified a bit with herself on being the “pillar of strength” and
the “dependable one”, this recurring phenomenon has been a bit
frustrating to say the least.

And yet… now that I’ve been on this path where my only choice has
been to SURRENDER, ACCEPT, and ADAPT long enough to see a
bigger picture emerging, I’m here today to tell you that I have a
message for you. And that message is coming to you through the
experience of my life.

Before I get into the message, I’d like to give you some background
so that the message makes sense.

Anyone who has read my book or done any work through Success for
the Soul knows that I’ve prided myself on not only being able to
make my own dreams come true – big giant life dreams – but that I’m
pretty darn good at helping others make their dreams come true. And
the truth is that none of that has changed. Since 2002 my soul-mate
husband and I manifested an amazing life in wine-country Oregon, we
had two beautiful children after struggling with infertility, and I’d written
and published my dream book, which became a best-seller… to name
a few.

SIMULTANEOUSLY, life was presenting me with tremendous personal
challenges: In 2005 my mother had been diagnosed with lung cancer
and I became her primary caregiver for four years until she passed in
May of 2009. As I looked forward to healing and reclaiming my life,
extenuating circumstances triggered a series of “earthquakes” that
affected our sense of security and safety regarding our home life
(which, among other things included the joys of a legal dispute), and
most recently, in the wee hours of Easter Sunday morning, I discovered
that my marriage was ending, in a most shocking, unexpected and
painful way (by divorce not death).

At a time when my life’s work was taking off like a rocket, as Source
Energy was supporting me in reaching an international audience, as
new and improved coaching programs were coming on line… my
personal world was turned upside down.

As all spiritual beings living a human experience I had to give myself
the space to process the shock and pain. I was living a paradox…
part of me wanted the space and permission to make it all about
ME… to curl up into a fetal position, hide under the blankets and
disappear for a few months. While the grown-up part of me knew I
had to be strong for my children. I had clients who had entrusted
their hopes and dreams with me. I had financial responsibilities to
honor. I simply didn’t have the luxury to “go away”.

So, what did I do? I did what I’ve been doing, what I’ve been
teaching, and what I’ve been practicing for all these years. I turned
to Source. I turned to God. But I did it in a way and to a depth I’ve
never gone before. I turned it ALL over, really and truly ALL to God.
Every day. Every minute. Every care. Every question. Every decision.
Every concern. I turned over my need to know. My addiction t o
reasoning. My love of control. My desire for order. I turned over my
fears. My worry about the children. I turned over my business. My
clients. My finances. I turned over difficult conversations I needed
to have. It turned over my physical health and well-being.

I THOUGHT I had let God live my life for me and through me before.
But like this? Never.

With all of my God time, some things became clear very quickly.

Firstly, I KNEW WHY this was happening…

I HAD ASKED FOR IT.

You’re thinking to yourself WHAT?! How could you have possibly
asked for this? Well, this sort of thing happens ALL the time. We
set goals and intentions. We ask the Universe for change. But when
things DO change, we forget we asked for it! Not only that, but we
don’t like HOW the change is unfolding. We ask God for help, but
try to tell God how to do her job. (And don’t even THINK about
trusting God!)

As for me, what happened is that back in 2009 I had declared to the
Universe, “I want to KNOW that God is my Source. My ONLY. My
EVERY. My ALL! I want to get it at a cellular level, so that I no
longer have to try to convince myself of this. I want to move BEYOND
intellectual understanding to deep, spiritual KNOWING.”

So, what happened? I manifested the exact experiences I needed to
have no choice, but to turn to God for everything. Every external
structure in my life that I used to count on to feel safe and secure
was stripped away. With my mother’s illness, my freedom (my
ability to live life on my terms) was confiscated. When my home
life crumbled into a chaotic mess of conflict, threat, and
abandonment… the illusion that safety and security come through
external comforts vanished. And when my marriage ended, my
“religion of relationship”, and my earthly identity burned away to
ashes.

As a result, I was left with nothing but my relationship with and
trust in God. I knew I could be strong and loving for my children,
because there is just something super-human that gets activated
when a woman becomes a mother. But I had no idea how I could
possibly be present and helpful to my clients, let alone get
through each day. And yet, I had to. So, before each client
session, before each class, and before each Q&A session, I’d turn
everything over to God. I would say, “Okay God. The life-coach
formerly known as Sonia is no longer here. Work through me so
that I may serve this person in the highest way.”

I did this for EVERY single professional interaction and exchange,
and what happened was quite astounding. Not only would amazing
wisdom come through and my clients felt served, but I felt better.
Letting God work through me, FOR another, uplifted me. Of course I
alw ays knew about this phenomenon. But to experience it when it
took everything I had just to answer the telephone… this was a
whole new level.

And then… the feedback started coming in.

“Sonia, I don’t know what’s happened to you, but something is
different. I’ve never heard or felt you be so powerful.”

“Sonia, I got off the phone the other day crying, and I knew that I
had to have you as my coach for the rest of my life.”

And then… I started letting my clients know what had happened in
my life and the feedback continued.

“Sonia, I have no idea how, but what you’re bringing is more
inspiring, confident and clearer than I’ve ever heard from you.”

My response was always the same: I’m letting God work through me,
because there is nothing of “me” left.

Which brings me to why I’m writing this letter to you today:

As a result of this unfolding in my life, my work is changing. I
don’t know where it is going for sure, or for how long it will be
this way, but I’m clear about what I need to do right now. I
haven’t written an ezine or a blog post in two or more months.
Instead I’m being guided away from writing toward staying
connected with all of you in a more interactive, intimate way.
So… for a while, instead of providing my Soul Food electronic
newsletter as my primary way of offering tips, tools, inspiration
and information, I will be facilitating a Free LIVE Q&A Forum call

P.S.  Oh, and in case you didn’t know.  When you register for this audio program, you get the recordings for the other two classes in the series, too:  “Manifesting Success and Prosperity” and “Manifesting Health and Well-Being!”

If you’re new to this exercise the common response is, “There’s NO reflection! We couldn’t be more different.” Ahhh, but there’s the key. There is ALWAYS a reflection because it is impossible to recognize something in our outside world that does not already exist in our inner world. The reflection may not always be obvious, but it IS there. If you can’t find it at first glance, oftentimes the reflection can be found in the polar opposite.

For example, my buttons get REALLY pushed by people I consider narcissistic or arrogant. When I recently looked for the reflection in myself I thought, “Geez… the last thing I want people to think is that I’m selfish. I go out of my way NOT to appear that way.” But the truth is that in my own struggle to overcome my “not good enough” demons, I can indeed find myself making it “all about me.” This happens when I worry too much about whether or not “I’m delivering.” This focus on whether or not I’m performing well keeps the attention on me. The self-focus and analysis gets in my way of truly serving. It blocks me from opening up to allow the bigger me – my connection to Source – to express through me.

Powerful stuff wouldn’t you say? Well, this concept of reflection plays out at an even bigger level, too. It just so happens that where we struggle in one area of life can be seen in other areas of life. Everything is connected!

And so it is with this as my latest source of inspiration that I look so forward to teaching my final tele-class in the series, 3 Secrets to Blowing the Lid off of Stuckness and Self-Sabotage. Although in this third class, our focus is “Manifesting Health and Well-Being,” I’ll be talking about how everything is connected. As you probably know, in the last few months, life threw me some pretty big, high-speed curve balls with my mother’s health crisis.  I’m happy to say she is settled into a new home, is receiving wonderful care, and her health has rallied dramatically.

During this chapter of my life, I had to let go of a lot of the projects I had in the works for Success for the Soul.

I began learning little bits about the LOA since Oprah had many of those who took part in "The Secret" on her show.  It clicked with me and I truly do believe.  I made a greater effort in the past 4-5 months to learn more.  I subscribed to Bob Doyle’s Wealth Beyond Reason program, and, read many of the books like, "A Happy Pocket Full of Money", "The Everyday 12-Point Lifesaver" by David Cameron, "The Science of Getting Rich" by Wallace Wattles, and several others.

In July, I signed up for Bob Doyle’s 45 day Boundless Living Challenge.  Things have gotten much worse for me!

My challenge was to achieve financial abundance.  I read these books, started doing EFT, learned meditation.  There has been no positive movement.  My financial situation has gotten much worse.  I am physically ill over all of this.  I lost 15 lbs. within the last two weeks, as I write this, I’m sitting here trembling and with chills.  On Friday, I received your book and have tried reading it over the weekend.  I know I’m not comprehending a lot of what I’m reading because I’m exhausted and my head is spinning.  My questions are:  with my current state, will this book still help?  I know my vibration is really bad; but, I can’t control it.  Do you have any suggestions?  If you could send a prayer my way, or, any advice, I’d certainly appreciate it!

A:

Thank you for writing.  I am indeed sending prayers for you.  First let me say, I know how you feel.  I’ve been in terrifying places financially more than once and the fear can be absolutely gripping.  I cannot offer an opinion about any of the resources you mentioned as I am not personally familiar with those.  I am familiar with others, however, and generally speaking I find that most Law of Attraction/manifestation resources offer at least a piece of the bigger puzzle which answers the question, ‘If I AM an infinitely powerful co-creator, how to a really tap into that so that it translates to concrete results in my life?”

What I believe you are going through now is often referred to as “chemicalization” or what is known as the “falling apart” phenomenon that often happens when people really surrender to what they truly want in life and “go for it”.  During these times some of your greatest fears will seemingly become reality.  You’ll think, “I finally decided to own my greatest aspirations and do something about it, and not only are they NOT manifesting, but things have gotten worse!”

These are my recommendations for riding this challenging time out:

1)    Go deeper with all of your spiritual practices.  Above all else contemplate Source as your ONLY source of supply – not a job, not a paycheck, not a savings account – these are only channels.

2)    Take one day at a time – even one moment at a time for as long as you need to.

3)    Practice living in the NOW.  Much of your anxiety comes from living in the future.

4)    Practice giving thanks for ALL that you have, no matter how small.

5)    Keep studying everything you can get your hands on.  This is a time to expand your consciousness.

6)    Keep doing any energy healing modality you can do. EFT can be great for many people.  Keep doing that.  I also highly recommend the Sedona Method for releasing fears and limiting beliefs.  It is an investment, but now is not the time to withdraw from what you need most.

7)    And yes, keep reading my book.  It will help you.  Even if you can only get through 1-2 pages a day.  Also, click on the “Prosperity” category of my blog and read all of the entries you can find.  Print out the ones that resonate most and read and re-read them as needed.  You WILL get through this.

During my most challenging financial times (when I had twin babies, paid groceries with a credit card, when my husband wasn’t getting paid, and I feared becoming homeless) I IMMERSED myself in the study of these principles.  I know now that if it hadn’t gotten as bad as it did, I would never have understood the advanced principles that are vital to truly harnessing the power of the LOA.  It is because of the hard times that I am now so passionate about teaching this information.   It really does work.  But, when it looks like it ISN”T working you can’t quit on it, you must go deeper in your study.

…and I have to say I’m in LOVE!  This program may very well be the missing link that I’ve been looking for in my efforts to transcend the unconscious blocks that hold me back, as well as my clients. 

As many of you know, in the past, I’ve depended on numerous energy healing modalities to help people move beyond where they have been stuck.  I’ve utilized The Yuen Method, Dynamic Energetic Healing (DEH), Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), and Resonance Repatterning to name a few.

These modalities have been very powerful and effective.  However, for some clients and for myself as well, there have been problems that remained seemingly "un-healable"… issues where we could never quite get to the root of it all.   I never knew if this was due to a flaw in the modality, my level of expertise, or the possibility there no matter how competent or brilliant any professional is, there is no such thing as 100% (other than death and taxes… although with the corruption I keep hearing about, I wonder if there aren’t a few untouchables who manage to successfully avoid paying taxes… but I digress…).

Well, The Sedona Method has become my latest daily spiritual practice and in the few short weeks I’ve been "releasing" I’ve been able to let go of some pesky gremlins that energy healing never seemed to touch.  I’ve released many remaining layers of "not enoughness."  My relationship with food is more peaceful.  I’ve lost weight.  I’ve uncovered stuff I NEVER knew was there.  I’ve had insights that have blown my mind.  And this is just the beginning for me.
