Law of Attraction – 4 Money Behaviors that Increase Financial Flow
By Sonia Miller | September 29, 2009
In order to manifest your dreams you MUST TAKE ACTION. But as seekers begin to learn about the Law of Attraction, this fundamental concept gets lost sometimes. This is because so much emphasis is placed on directing mental and emotional energy. Yes, cultivating the right mind-set is absolutely critical –no question about it. BUT, you must take action as well.
Why? Because if you engage with your dreams ONLY on energetic levels (i.e. thoughts, emotions and words) then your dreams remain at the non-physical level of energy. When, however, you extend your energy into the physical realm through action, your dream in energetic form, extends itself into your life in physical form as well.
Prosperity mind-set and prosperity action is a topic that is as wide as it is deep. An article can only provide an overview. That being said, below you’ll find my top 4 prosperity actions – my favorite ones to practice in support of correct thinking. When your consciousness and your behaviors are in alignment, the flow really gets going!
Why These Actions Work
Now, before I jump into the actions themselves, it is important to understand why and how they work. All of these actions require faith. You must “act as if” you trust that the Universe will provide (even if you don’t). You must act in faith first, give in faith first, circulate in faith first, THEN the Universe reflects back to you the abundance you acted from. Your faith is the bridge that your dreams use to cross over from energy form to physical form.
Tithing
“Tithe” is defined as “a tenth part of something,” and is commonly associated with 10% of one’s earnings contributed regularly to one’s church. From a Law of Attraction perspective, the association with tithing is non-religious and is based in universal principles.
The idea is that Source Energy is the Source of ALL supply. Every cent that flows into your life comes from Source – not your employer, or client, or parent or anything external, but Source Energy itself. Beyond this is the understanding that EVERYTHING is made up of this same Source Energy. You are this energy, money is this energy, your home, your car, your food. This means that there is no separation between you and money. You and money are ONE.
And so one of the most powerful money behaviors you can practice is to give 10% of EVERYTHING that flows into your life to the source of YOUR spiritual nourishment. This action conveys the energy of acknowledging that Source is your only Source. And as you give thanks for that which Source has provided, and circulate back your contribution, not only do you participate in the abundant flow, but the flow magnifies and expands.
Credit Cards vs. Cash
When you have money in the bank, do you use your credit card in order to save cash for future bills or a rainy day – just in case? When you do this, the energy you’re putting out to the Universe is, “I don’t trust Source Energy to be my Source, so I’ll make this credit card my Source.” This credit card is a) external and b) a reflection of your fear, your belief in scarcity. And so, you will perpetuate the experience of being “separate from abundance” and not having enough.
When you align your thinking with the highest truth – that Source Energy is your ONLY source of supply – then you can take productive action in faith. When you spend money that you DO have in gratitude, instead of delaying the act of spending out of fear, your energy tells the Universe, “See? Right now, I have all the money I need! Thank you Source!” And because like attracts like, you keep attracting the experience of having all the money you need – more than you need!
Circulating vs. Hoarding
Along these lines there is a difference between saving money and hoarding money. Abundant savings is a sign of overflowing abundance. Hoarding, however, is a reflection of one’s belief that scarcity is the order of the day and Source cannot be trusted to provide.
True and lasting prosperity is a state of being in the flow NOT a state of having. And so one of the most powerful actions you can take with your money is to circulate it with joy, gratitude and generosity. When you give to others, do so joyfully, claiming the ever-expanding abundance that is already on its way back to you – part of the endless flow.
Spending from Wholeness
You are a part of the whole that is Source Energy. As such every part of you is an expression of this wholeness. When you practice seeing yourself and every aspect of yourself as whole and complete, you allow into your experience more and more of the abundance that is an expression of that wholeness. It is all about perspective.
So, what does expressing wholeness mean in terms of action? It means “spend money” but do it with the right attitude. Do it while being energetically responsible. This means pay attention to what you are thinking and feeling when you do spend money.
When you write a check or give someone cash, are you in touch with your wholeness, or do you feel like you are losing something? When you pay for your groceries can you do so in gratitude for the abundance that you are, or are you focusing on the dwindling funds in your wallet as a sign that your wholeness is depleting.
When you get a speeding ticket, do you deem that as bad and wrong? Do you blame yourself? Do you get mad at the Universe, or can you trust and surrender to the opportunity to see it as part of the larger whole with no judgment, giving thanks for the abundance that you have to pay it – however you pay it.
Each time money passes through your hands, every time an unexpected expense arises, every time you pay a bill, practice seeing yourself, your finances and your life as whole and complete – perfect in its (imperfect) human expression. The more you express wholeness in your finances, the more your finances will express their wholeness, well-being and abundance.
If taking these actions feels scary, start small. This is part of being energetically responsible. Experiment, play, and work with your thoughts and emotions. If you are consistent and mindful, your faith in an abundant Universe will begin to reveal itself in your outer world.

Switching to carrying cash has been fundamental in shifting my prosperity consciousness. Another little thing my family does is we collect all our pennies, nickels, and dimes, and give them to homeless people. 10% may seem like a lot when you’re starting out so you can always start smaller. Good post. Thank you so much!

For the larger department stores, check out the option to order online and if the store near you doesn’t stock the items, they will ship your order to your local store for free! Consider doing this on every day items as well. Why make a trip to the drug store, grocery store and shoe store when you can save the gas and order everything you need online for less money? [...]

[...] The law of attraction is simply the process in which we attract that which we believe. If we think we have no money, the universe makes sure that we continue to have no money. If we think that we in debt and we focus on that belief and we tell ourselves that we are in debt and will never get out of it, the law of attraction continues to bring us that reality. We receive more debt! It doesn’t determine or decipher what is good or bad, negative or positive. It doesn’t interpret your beliefs, it simply brings what you ask for. It won’t hear you say you are broke and logically assume that you mean you want more money. You say you are broke, you tell the universe you are broke and the universe simply says, “OK you want to be broke” because that is what you asked for and that is what you believe. [...]
