Law of Attraction – Get Results by Getting Out of Your Own Way – Installment #8

This week, I’ll be offering a few examples that illustrate how ego and higher purpose can express in everyday lives.

The Higher Purpose Businessman
The higher purpose business man will likely have many common interests and passions with the ego-driven businessman. He may be highly enthusiastic at the idea of creating a product that reaches a large audience, enjoy acknowledgment in the form of acknowledgement and positive reviews, he likes making money and lots of it, loving the feeling of freedom, power and abundance. He enjoys feeling powerful in his world and with others. However, the higher purpose businessman differs from the ego-driven business man in that these experiences and conditions are only the beginning of something larger for him. All of these forms of self-expression and power are actually a means to a greater end. The power, the creativity, the abundance that he generates as an entrepreneur allow him to be and give more to others. It might come in the form of generous philanthropy, or he may create and manage his business as an expression and example of higher values that he would like to share with others – values such as generosity, trust, relationship and community. He takes on challenges that may arise in the course of doing business as an opportunity to discover or practice a higher principle aligned with his soul’s truth. In contrast. the motivation of the ego-driven businessman begins and ends with the self. He defines himself by the demonstrations of power, freedom, success, abundance and acknowledgement. He sees the successful conditions and events of his business as opportunities to prove something about who he is. As opposed to being sensitive to the longer-term and farther-reaching impact his actions and his business can have on others, he is focused primarily on how all things business-related affect the business itself and consequently him.

    I really enjoyed the way this article presents the case for spirituality in the business world. The connection between business success and business failure is obvious to those who want to scratch beneath the surface.
