In fact, a big part of learning to receive our desires has to do with learning to give, because God is a Giver. We are created as receivers. Thse facts, however, cause us to see a separation between Giver and Receiver, between God and man. Yet, we are made in God's image. We are Divine. The Kabbalists tell us that we must achieve "affinity of form" with our Creator, and to do that we must become Givers. We must learn to receive not for the self alone but for the sake of giving, and in the process of doing this we become "like God." We become Givers. And when that happens, we achieve oneness with the Ultimate Conscious Creator. And when we acheive oneness, we become one with everything including the Divine flow of goodness. We can open to receiving all that goodness and to giving it in return. It's a constant flow -- in and out and all around.
