Making Metaphysics Mainstream

Q: I’m trying to decide if I like your advice column or if it totally turns me off. Some of what you write about really rings true for me, but I’m wondering where you get your material. Is this science? Is it religion? The last thing I need is another zealot trying to convert me.
A: The answer is all of the above and none of the above. You can find these concepts discussed in any discipline you choose, be it science, religion, poetry, health, philosophy, nature, etc. This is because these concepts are rooted in an ageless wisdom that transcends any one body of knowledge.
For example when I talk about energy and its properties, you’ll find explorations of these ideas everywhere. In science energy is an electro-magnetic field and the elemental substance of our physical reality. In psychology energy is a thought form. In Chinese medicine energy is life force. In the realms of religion it is God. In metaphysics it is consciousness. In philosophy it is The Great Mystery. In the environment it is Mother Nature. In poetry it has countless names.
This energy is the infinite intelligence that creates our individual realities. When we understand how it works then we begin to access our power to create the lives we desire. Consciously and unconsciously each one of us plays with this energy every moment of our lives. We direct it with our thoughts, emotions and actions.
Energy is a fact of life. It should be a mainstream topic, not some New Age fringe concept. People write in to advice columns seeking solutions to problems. However, the problems people have are not the dead-end job, controlling wife, debt, or weight issues. These are symptoms. The real problems lie in the consciousness that creates these experiences.
If any of this rings true for you, then find a language that works for you. If religious-speak turns you off, turn to a discipline you can palate. Learn about the creative energy of consciousness, and you’ll really start to solve your problems.
