My Law of Attraction Tool Kit – #3 Practice for Soothing Panic

My #3 Law of Attraction tool for soothing panic is…
GIVE THANKS FOR EVERYTHING!
All I can say is "Thank Source!" for the awareness I DO have. If not, it would have been not too many years back, that the bony claw of poor-me-victimhood would have been pulling me under the murky waters of self pity.
So… I come off of my mom’s health crisis (two months of exhausting intensity), then hubby’s steady stream of income disappeared, POOF!, and then just as I’m finally getting back to "normal" life, an Artic blast hit the North West and we lost power for 4 days. There we were, freezing our petutees off, as we packed up the survival basics to move into our trailer for warmth, while chucking our Christmas & Hanukah plans out the icicle-jammed window. Can you say, "tuna fish and Lipton soup for Christmas lunch? Could have easily felt like someone was adding insult to injury, right?
And I admit, there was a little part of me that wanted to "go there." And I did, for a little bit, because I’m a big believer in "honoring one’s emotions" so that they can release (rather than trying to "talk yourself into feeling happy" because you’re afraid of what you’ll create – only to create more of what you don’t want because you’re RESISTING your emotions!)
BUT, after my little vent session with God, where I declared in my bossiest of inner-voices, "Okay Source! I INTEND – VEHEMENTLY - to experience the PEACE, HARMONY AND GRACE that is ALREADY PRESENT!" …what did I do? I took a deep breath. SURRENDERED. And dug into my LOA tool kit, this time pulling out the practice and power of GRATITUDE.
I started giving thanks for EVERYTHING I could think of. Sometimes the thanks sounded sweet and appreciative, other times warm and humbling, and other times cranky, reluctant and begrudging. But… I kept giving thanks.
Thank you, Source that…
~I am here, with my family and we are all safe, healthy and together,
~That my mom is warm and safe and I don’t have to worry about her,
~That we have a truck with 4-wheel drive for when the roads clear just a little bit,
~That we no longer have 90,000 chickens on the property to stress over during power outages,
~That I have an incredible husband who is doing the protector/provider thing with such love, calmness and dare I say "hunky-ness."
~That we have plenty of food.
~That we have cell phone service.
~That friends and family are watching out for us, offering their homes, their showers, their food and their support.
~That we get to have quality time together, watching fun videos and eating popcorn.
~That those amazing electric and power guys and working so hard for so many people, sacrificing their own sleep and holiday time with their families so that we might have warmth again.
…And, as usually happens, it didn’t take long for my stressed out shoulders to lower, and my heart to follow the lead of my mental discipline. Soon enough I really FELT grateful. And moreover, I realized, "Sonia, you have NOTHING to complain about!" You are soooo blessed.
Sometimes these and other disciplines produce dramatic shifts in one’s reality immediately. Other times not right away. But if there is one thing I know is that when times get tough, we simply cannot afford to indulge in mental complaining or resistance. It only prolongs the suffering and creates more of what we don’t want.
And so, after only 4 days (some people were without power for 10 days last I heard!) we were back on line, stocking our pantry, and enjoying the company of friends at a "thank you" get together at our house. My husband even cleaned the whole house so that I could catch up on work!
